Wow! The desert scenery is spectacular. Colors everywhere, beautiful ravines, jagged mountains, a favorite for trail runners. October 2025 saw the inaugural Lizard Peak Scramble 5k/10k.
I really enjoyed this hike. It was unique going through the crack in the mountain. I went at seven in the morning and it was still really hot in the middle of July.
Hiked through the crevice to the Colorado river and had an enjoyable picnic lunch by the water. This is a wonderful park to visit during the cooler months when the temperature is better suited for longer treks through varied terrain.…
