About two miles from the southern entrance to Topock Gorge is a massive rock formation on the Arizona (east) side of the river known as Picture Rock. If you approach the rock closely by boat and look carefully, you will likely see remnants of prehistoric petroglyphs carved into the stone face. This art helps to tell the stories of the Native American tribes who inhabited the Colorado River thousands of years ago. Divers have claimed the petroglyphs are visible underwater on both the California and Arizona sides of the river. There is a very small beach below the petroglyph rock, but caution is advised, as waters are swift in this area of the river. Managed by: Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Accessibility: Boat only Distance from London Bridge (Bridgewater Channel): 11.2 nautical miles (12.9 miles)
